The Chanel Haute Couture show really was a production. Hidden behind the plush curtains within the Grand Palais Lagerfeld recreated the shell of a burnt- or bombed-out theatre.
The message of the collection, said Lagerfeld, was of the old world
meeting the new. So the curtains opened to reveal a backdrop of a
futuristic skyline, city landmarks from London, Dubai and Shanghai
merging together.
Glossy, hipster and modernist, this Chanel collection played with proportion, geometric prints and sparkle.
Of course Couture Week is'nt just an event for glittering gowns, it's
also an excuse to show off the most talented makeup professionals from
across the globe, and did they show off... but of course.
To the left of the famous Chanel brows, Cara Delevinge-esque, they played great part in the commanding manor of the show. To the right the shimmering lids of Georgio Armani to compliment the nude tones in the collection.
Naomi Campbell returned with a bang to the catwalk, opening the show for Versace in a stunning short embellished corset dress.
Sexy and secutive in a subtle way, the sharp cutting pieces in the couture collection made for fabulous silhouettes on the catwalk.
Donatella Versace thanked the audience after her Pre AW13/14 Couture Collection ended.
