SS13...What We Can Look Forward To!
Aqua, Neon, Volume, Stripes, Monochrome, Minimalism, White & Pastels
Spring Summer 2013 won’t be one to disappoint, with collections
bringing a playful theme into dressing this season. As showcased at London Fashion Week, the
catwalk saw a mix of colours that will prevail this summer including bursts of
neon, monochrome and soft candy pastels.
From a more style focused perspective, the swinging sixties, vivacious volume and bold graphics are the most prominent approaches bringing together bright palettes such as hot pink,
grass green, acid orange and cobalt blue. A vibrant return of colour this season in all its clashing glory.
A key collection from By Malene Birger brings a utterly feminine and colourful selection together whilst upholding its minimalist tailored approach, alongside bold print choices and textured fabric choices.
Volume
was a key look on the catwalks of Miu Miu and Chanel accentuating shoulders, sleeves
and hips playing with proportion sizes on the female form. Metallics
were shown at Burberry, presenting a glistening twist to the iconic
trench coat, using hues of purple, pink, blue, green and lilac, perfectly complimenting the iridescence theme running throughout shows this season.
Never far from the Spring Summer season is the light and girly pastel palette, using Laduree as its inspiration, the macaroon enthused colours included spearmint, fondant pink, violet and baby-blue tones with lemon as the most prominent shade. Showcased at Prada, Mulberry and Valentino, it certailly gave us a sweet-tooth towards this trend.
A soft neutral pallet is demonstrated at By Malene Birger, perfect for the working woman, with beautifully tailored elegant and feminine designs providing both practicality and trend driven pieces.
Gestuz also presents a more natural inspired collection, with edgy casual outfits consisting of floaty pastel inspired pieces toughened up with light denim additions.
Monochrome makes a welcome return for Spring, a classic combination which oozes effortless Parisian style. This time around make your monochrome stand out by infusing a mixture of textures and prints within it. By Malene Birger SS13 provides a host of black & white emsembles, giving its collections a cool, relaxed appeal.
Gestuz also goes monochrome, with easy tailoring and soft draping.
Keep an eye out for prints,
from floral to snakeskin to leopard and geometric, grids and graphical, all either merged or clashing with rich block colours or pops of bright neon. Stripes are also continuing into SS13, but this time thick and
horizontal, ever so flattering on the fugure.
It is set to
be an amazing season for fashion, letting us be brave and bold but still
evermore feminine.
