In The Eye Of The Beholder - SS13 Beauty Trends

With thoughts turning towards Spring, a little something we tend to forget is updating our beauty regime, gone are the dark hues of Winter and we say goodbye to lips being the focus. We welcome in the season of the eyes with a host of glittering lids, coloured liners and intensely long lashes. All four major fashion weeks shone a spotlight on a highly detailed eye and flawlessly finished skin helped with a touch of clever contouring. Lips stayed bright and colourful but could only be seen with a entirely matte finish.

This seasons beauty trends see a return to femininity with a pop of neon colour and a touch of bronzed glamazonian.

The New Minimalism - As a base, creating a flawless finish is key to this look. As seen at Balmain, achieving the 'no make up look' allows for subtle contouring and a flush of pink on the cheek.

Look At Me - Attention grabbing eyes are a key look this season, from the techno butterfly at Dior to the space age silver at Chanel. Make sure your glitter your lids or brighten up with a pink mascara.

Take It Low - Stemming from the 90's the focus belongs to the lower lash line. Opting for Grungy as seen at Lanvin & Diane von Furstenberg or smudged and smokey at Christopher Kane.

Colour Pop - A key look of the season was the fuchsia pink lip at Giles, but don't forget to experiment with indigo, lime and magenta too.

Sixties Throw Back - The swinging era was represented in all of its glory at Marc Jacobs with filled in brows and nude lips, but also softened with pastel colours at Louis Vuitton.

Back To Matte - After seasons of youthful glows and dewiness we return to a flawless powdered finish. Witnessed at Alexander McQueen and Roberto Cavalli.

50 Shades of Pink - A key colour through out the season, in all of its forms, Pink is the shade to shine with this Spring. Magenta lashes were sported at Donna Karan, Fuchsia lips at Dries Van Noten and Rose cheeks at Marni.

Faux-Pas - So unashamedly fake, lashes were big and bold on the catwalks with Versace and Gucci championing this fluttering look.

Brown Town - Creating a flawless finish involves clever contouring around the eyes and face. Shades of Bronze, Caramel and Gold were spotted at Roberto Cavall and Versace.

So when looking to update your look for Spring Summer 2013, opt for one of the key trends, have fun with colour and experiment with your eye make-up. Just remember the key rules, practise a matte finish, focus on the eye and keep it cool when it comes to contouring.
